The Psychological Trauma Associated with Early Loss of Teeth

Every so often a client will emerge  requesting dentures who has an excellent memory of what they remember about their tooth presentation and shade when they were adults, and how they lost their self esteem due to wearing dentures.

To a degree the above scenario can be reversed and a natural reproduced set is achieveable.

However when children loose their teeth  they also loose their confidence in society  both through their adolescence and adult life.

They will recall the humiliation as a child having to go to school and be mocked after their guardian of parents agreed with the dentist to extract all their teeth when they were small. They will blame the person who gave the dentist the permission to do it. Why didnt they get a second opinion? they will abruptly ask me.

These patients are psychologically traumatised. They develop into adulthood after experiencing a depressive and miserable childhood. Disabled from a young age.

Yet no counciling was attempted on these chidren. No considerable for their future social development. Both sexes suffering simultaneously in a quiet world. There life revolves around feeling incomplete, inadequate and a freak. Their adolescent life worried about meeting their spouse  and how to relate to them

These are not complete people who enjoy a full fruitful life and thank God the butchers of 40 years ago have retired and hung up their forceps.

This section will shortly be dedicated to clients who have attended my clinic for cosmetic dentures.

The client  will provide a brief history of their problems, followed by my explanation for their problems followed by my diagnosis and the reasons for my decisions.

Photographs will highlight in detail the clients issues followed by try-in wax dentures stage for patient observation and comments for alteration, followed by photographs taken at the final fit stage.

The exercise is to enable potential clients to assimilate the protocol I follow during the manufaturering of the denture hopefully instilling a degree of confidence into my technique.

In order to comply with Data Protection and client dignity, clients faces on the photograph will be blanked out above the nose.
